Sierra MacOS operating system brings many changes to Apple desktop devices.
One is the cessation of support for applications from unknown developers or unofficial.
Typically, to install unofficial applications, the options can be viewed when clicking the System Preferences> Security & Privacy and General Tab.
The three options include allowing the application is downloaded from
(1) App Store,
(2) App Store and Identified Developers, and
(3) Anywhere.
Unfortunately, the third option has been removed.
This means, MacOS Sierra is now more stringent in terms of installation application. Nevertheless, there are tricks you can try to penetrate the Sierra.
Actually it does not matter if you install apps that are not officially from Apple, as long as it's safe and reliable.
There are other tricks that you can try to download and install apps from unofficial developers.
Find out how as reported by CNET, Tuesday (11/22/2016) the following:
1. Control-Click
Open Finder and locate the application you want to install.
Then press the Control key and click to open the app.
When the menu appears, select Open to open the dialog box so that the OS Sierra allow unofficial applications can be installed.
2. Open Anyway
If Sierra would not let you open the relevant application, the application will be included in the list of applications General tab in the Security & Privacy pane in System Preferences.
Go to the panel and you'll see a blocked application with the Open button Anyway to make an exception.
After that you can install it.
3. Terminal Command
You can bring back the "Anywhere" on over to the Security & Privacy pane in System Preferences to Terminal Command.
You do this, open the Terminal, type and enter the command:
sudo spctl - master-disable
Furthermore, when you later open the System Preferences, the option "Anywhere" is not only registered but also selected, so you can install apps from any source.
